Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Against Bucks County Nursing Facility Over 92-Year-Old’s Fall-Related Death

The estate of 92-year-old Marie Eltz has initiated legal action against Neshaminy Manor, alleging that inadequate staffing and negligent care contributed to her 2023 death following a fall at the Bucks County-operated nursing facility. The wrongful death lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, names multiple defendants including Bucks County, Neshaminy Manor, and Genesis HealthCare LLC, the private contractor responsible for providing nursing staff.

According to the federal court filing, facility staff allegedly failed to implement appropriate fall prevention protocols upon Eltz’s admission despite documented fall risks. The litigation further claims that after Eltz fell from her wheelchair on Valentine’s Day 2023, staff inadequately investigated her pain complaints, resulting in delayed diagnosis of a hip fracture and subsequent complications that led to her death.

The lawsuit presents evidence from Medicare records indicating that the 360-bed Warrington facility operated with insufficient staffing levels during Eltz’s residency period, allegedly allowing the county to realize significant cost savings while providing substandard care. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding nursing home staffing standards and patient safety protocols in long-term care facilities.
